Whether I paint a still life, landscape or interior scene, the dramatic use of color, shadow, perspective and form immortalize that image. Having traveled widely, experiencing the richness of other cultures and living in the Bay Area for over 32 years, the brush and canvas has now become my personal method of recording observations." Douglas Morgan has extensively studied and taught graduate and undergraduate students at the renowned Academy of Art in San Francisco, the largest art school in the United States. In addition to winning numerous regional and national awards for his work, his oil paintings have been displayed in many juried art shows throughout the United States. He is a Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America and Society of Western Artists as well as an Artist Member of the California Arts Club.
Some of Douglas’ awards and honors include: Certificate of Excellence from the California Art Club’s 1992 to 1997 Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibitions, Second Place Award at the 2006 Valona Plein Air Paintout in Crockett, California, the Jury Choice Award and Second Place at the 2004 Napa Valley Museum Plein Air Bienniel in Napa, California and Award of Merit in the 2007 Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters National Show.
